The recent acquisition of MySpace by News Corp. drew a lot of attention to the social networking segment, and impressively showed that the “first mover” doesn’t always win - a quick look at Alexa rankings for Friendster and MySpace shows MySpace way ahead even if Friendster’s launch preceded it (if we don’t consider the first generation networks such as the old sixdegrees…)
ComScore released some stats in MySpace (and you may or may not trust them, but at least they are indicative). Paul Kedrowsky posted the gist here. Take a look at his highlights, and take in some of the number: 150,000 new users a day!
