Top 10 list and Alexa’s API

Top10 It’s becoming a favorite pasttime to compile lists of people’s most favorite webapps, and most of those start with flickr, del.icio.ius and the other usual suspects. My colleague Tom just pointed me to this article which lists a few well known apps, but also introduces some lesser known but very inetresting ones. Worth a read if you want to get a nice cross section of the new type of applications and services on the web today.

Alexa
Another step that kept the web buzzing over the last few days is Alexa’s move to open up their API for widespread use of their indexing and crawling resources, calling it the Alexa Web Search Platform. The Alexa page is here, but I find that John Battelle’s post and this Wired article have a good explanation of what it really means.
