As you may know, I am with a venture capital firm called BV Capital. Right now, I am looking for someone to work with me on a part time (hourly) basis to help research young Internet companies.
BV Capital invests in young Internet and software companies. Really, if you look at some of our recent investments in the Internet area (del.icio.us, xuqa.com, fotolog.net, peerflix.com…) you’ll get an idea what type of companies we are looking for in the Internet sector.
I spend a lot of time on the web, reading blogs and many other sources, but I never have enough time to keep up with all of them. We built some internal tools for filtering many of them according to our interest, but there is of course so much more that needs to be monitored with the goal of identifying the most innovative and compelling Internet services/products. So here’s what your job would look like:
- Regularly scan a number of sources regularly for new Internet services/products/applications/projects/ideas/companies. While I would share the list of sources I currently use, I would love to learn about new ones that you find helpful.
- Compile and continously update a list of your findings. The goal is to have a “landscape” of what’s out there.
- Help contact interesting companies so that we can get some initial information about them, and see whether it makes sense to enter a dialogue with them.
Here’s the type of background that I am looking for:
- Strong interest in Internet (incl. “Web 2.0″ companies/services/apps) and technology. Ideally, you have your own blog or something else I could took a look at to get an idea of where your interests are.
- A technical background or sufficient hands-on experience to be able to cut through too much marketing…
- Availability for part time work of around 5-10hrs a week. You can do the work on your own schedule, as long as you can commit time on a regular basis. This could be an ideal job if you are in university and have a few hours to spare every week.
- You can work from home or your preferred location, there is no need to be present at our offices. However, I would ideally like to work with someone in Europe since I already have to deal with a number of people in different timezones…however, I’ll decide based on the qualifications and this is not a hard and fast requirement.
- Obviously, you need to have good English skills since the sites we’ll be looking at are from all over the world. However, you don’t need to have specific background around venture capital as a prerequisite.
In short, we’d be paying you to look for and try out everything that’s new and hot on the web. Isn’t that a great job?? If you think so, email me at christian at blogging.vc - no formal application needed, just send a short email summarizing why you think you’d be a fit. I am looking forward to the responses!

Hi.
Is there any applying deadline? I’d like to send a summarize via eMail but I think i won’t be able to finish it until the weekend.
Would that be still fine?
Regards,
Marc
Hi Marc, No, I don’t have a firm deadline in mind…and I won’t make a decision this week, so if you can send a short resume by this weekend that will be just fine.

Christian
Hi Christian,
Do you have the interest in the Chinese interenet field? If so,I’d like to help you to know more about the

Best regards,

Christian,
Don’t know if you are still looking for somebody or not, but consider my hat thrown in the ring!
I am a college student and I’m looking for a credit card to start credit history. I am being offered quite q plenty of them but I do not really like the terms and conditions they carry. I want to make my own, independent decision and apply for credit cad I like online. Now I just think which is better to have – a student credit card to build credit history, a secured credit card or no credit card all of which I’ve seen at

Comparing to what I’ve read about this before, it sounds absolutely impressing. I’m an old internet user, and have read a lot about this kind of stuff, but what I read here today is absolutely different.
