I wrote about Google launching a flurry of new things yesterday, and today I noticed the long-awaited Google Calendar - finally there after all the rumors. Cnet has more.
There are of course a lot of calendar services out there, but I think the tie-in with Google mail is interesting. I can tell you from my own experience how painful it is to setup, maintain and work with Microsoft Exchange and one of the key reasons to do so has always been the calendar feature that allows to coordinate with a team. If Google figures out a good way to synch with desktop clients, and keeps working on the email feature that allows hosting your email domain at Google we could see a nice small business hosted groupware in the making here….

Sadly it’s all in the making and not ready yet. It’s hard to get into Google Hosted and I can’t add a second shared calendar in the Google Calendar. I presume the second part should be fixed soon though.
Otherwise we are currently looking at fusemail.com, which seems to be very nice including sharing of calendars and address books and the like.
