One of the privileges of being a VC is being able to see your portfolio companies grow and be successful. One of these companies is Azureus , which is currently launching its new product called “Zudeo“. I will spare you a lot of the details since you probably caught them already on GigaOm or Techcrunch (update: also see this article on Wired).
I want to stress though that Zudeo will not just be another download platform or You Tube. What does that mean to the consumer? Content that will be downloaded with the Zudeo client will typically be in DVD or HD quality. No stamp sized, blurry streams but a high-quality, high-resolution experience. That’s because the very large files that these high-quality movies generate can be delivered cost-efficiently via the underlying peer-to-peer distribution mechanism. So how does that work? You’ll have to download the client to get the full experience, and I promise it’s more than worth it! Stay tuned for much more content and features being added very soon, and if you are an independent movie producer, gifted amateur filmmaker or whoever else might have content to share that doesn’t like being reduced to stamp-sized streams, check out the publishing functionality. And for those of you who can’t get enough of Jedis, here’s one film (official website) that you shouldn’t miss…and be sure to set your player to full screen when viewing the trailer or movie below!
