Azureus Unveils Vuze.com

April 5th, 2007

Our portfolio company Azureus just unveiled Vuze, the shiny new version of their client formerly code-named Zudeo. Check it out at Vuze.com!

The team there worked feverishly on the the release, so first of all congrats to everyone at Azureus for getting this live in time! Vuze.com will be the new destination for high-quality, full-length content. Content may be uploaded freely onto Vuze’s open platform and there will also be TV/Movie content licensed from large publishers.

The BBC actually decided to premiere it’s HD TV show “Sorted” in the US using Vuze, and the company also announced today that it signed a deal with Showtime which included a lot more TV content that will be available as pay per download (Note: Not all content is available internationally, but the company is working on that…). Here’s the press release (pdf) with more info…

.
Feel free to blame me for shamelessly promoting the Company, but I am just really excited and continuously impressed by what these guys get done. Keep up the great work!

A perfectly good piece of software suddenly has a big ole chunk of commercial crap attached.

Time to revert to the previous version.
