My name is Christian Leybold, and I work for a Venture Capital fund called BV Capital. We have offices in San Francisco and Hamburg, and while I lived in California from 2003-2005 I now spend most of my time in our German office.

I have a technical background - I studied Electrical Engineering at the Technische Universitaet Muenchen and graduated with a Master’s Degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before joining BV Capital, I spent some time working for Daimler Chrysler at their Research Center in Bangalore and for both a French telcoms consulting company in Paris (Siticom) and a German consulting subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom in Berlin (Detecon).

Here at BV Capital, I am focusing on telecoms and Internet related investments. As part of my job, I spend a good part of my time at conferences, meeting great people and looking around the Internet in order to identify new investment opportunities. Being at the pulse of innovation is a privilege that VCs are afforded by their job, and this blog is the attempt to share some of the more interesting things I come across.

Oh, and before I forget: After many years of MS Windows frustration and the realization that I just keep having issues running Linux in an office environment, I switched to an Apple 12″ PowerBook sometime in early 2005. I have become an addict, so you may expect the occasional post on cool Mac software as well.

Also, please bear with me as I am playing around with Wordpress and improve the format of this blog.
