This morning I gave a talk on “Business Models for Web 2.0 companies” at the Web 2.0 Expo in Berlin. For those interested, the slides can be downloaded here.Looks like there is a good turnout of people here, it’s just unfortunate that the Berlin Fairgrounds that were chosen as a venue must be the blandest space there is […]

Techcrunch Party at August Capital
Thanks to the folks at Vuze, I got a ticket to the Techcrunch Party at August Capital. I have to say that for anyone wanting to understand what “Silicon Valley Networking” is about, such a party is the best crash course. Selected obeservations:
Setup. A few hundred people on a sunny deck on Sand Hill Road […]
Rebooting…
Reboot 9.0 just started in Copenhagen….probably the only conference with more than 500 people attending but no marketing, no real program set by the organizers and Thomas Madsen-Mygdal, the main organizer, opening the confernence with the words: “There’s wifi…now and then”. That’ll make for interesting discussions, I hope..after all it’s time to “reboot”.
This years’s event […]
next07 in Hamburg Tomorrow
Tomorrow the Next07 conference will be going on in Hamburg. For once an interesting conference that doesn’t require more than a subway ride (for me) to get to! It’ll be my pleasure to introduce and throw some questions at Nico Lumma, who’ll certainly also tell us a thing or two about his new project, Shoppero…
re:publica in Berlin
Just arrived in incredibly sunny Berlin at the re:publica conference…seems like there is a pretty good turn out, and the very “Berlin-like” location Kalkscheune already sets it apart from all the conferences in nondescript chain hotels. There is a pretty broad lists of sponsors (or “partners” using the less commercial term) but there is no […]
Back from Le Web 3
The third event seems to be a tipping point for yearly conferences: Finally word has gotten from the insiders to the mainstream that it’s the place to be. That’s why there were more than 1000 people at this year’s Le Web 3 conference. For me, the action was clearly in the hallway. Much like at […]
Le Web 3 - Politicians entering the scene
The Le web 3 conference is taking an interesting turn: After word got around that French minister Mr Sarkozy will be speaking later today, everyone wants to use this conference for promoting their own political agenda: The UDF’s lead candidate invited himself to the stage and was suddenly joined by two well known French journalists […]
Bar Camp Cologne, SIME 06, Le Web 3
I am just trying to figure out which conference I’ll really be able to attend during the rest of the year…it’s a busy season. I just got an invite to SIME 06 which looks interesting, there’s Le Web 3 in Paris during December and a series of BarCamps…the next one coming up in Cologne on […]
Back at Work and Web 2.0 in Offenbach
After a fantastic wedding and great time off, I headed straight to the German Web 2.0 Kongress in Offenbach. Since I am late as always I’ll send you over to fischmarkt.de for pretty extensive coverage on the event.
In my talk, I spoke about the current market for venture capital, what has changed since 1999, business […]
Raffling Three Tickets to reboot.dk!!!!
I’ll be heading to Copenhagen for the reboot conference at the end of this week. If you have visited the reboot site before, you may have noticed that the VC firm I work for (BV Capital) is a sponsor of the conference. We think it’s a great way to get the European Internet […]
